Winners: BAL vs. NYY

We won again yesterday after Arsenal completed its comeback win against Koln 3-1. I hate this song but oh well…

Now, on to today.

Today, the Baltimore Orioles visit the New York Yankees. The Yankees are trying to catch the Red Sox in the race for the AL East crown, while the Orioles are waiting for the disappointing season to be over. For the Orioles, Gabriel Ynoa gets the start. Ynoa has been in and out of the rotation all year and is coming off a loss to Cleveland (who isn’t) in his last start. He pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and seven hits. Not terrible, but not great.

For the Yankees, Luis Severino gets the ball. Severino has been great this year. He’s 12-6 with a 2.96 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. He’s got 211 strikeouts in 176 1/3 innings this year so he’s been difficult to hit. Severino’s faced Baltimore three times this season, winning two of those games and getting a no decision in the other start. He’s pitched 18 1/3 innings, allowing six earned runs and 15 hits, while striking out 22. Those are great numbers. We’ll look for more of the same today.

Here are some trends that may show how the game will go:

  • Orioles are 0-5 in their last five against winning teams
  • Orioles are 1-8 in their last nine against right-handed starters
  • Yankees are 5-0 in their last five games against right-handed starters
  • Yankees are 5-1 in their last six games overall

Pick: New York Yankees -290 (Bet $60 to win $20.69)

Severino has been the ace the Yankees have needed the season. We haven’t bet a baseball game in a while so we’ll hope he continues his great season today.

Fingers crossed.
