Winners: CHW vs. LAD

Any day you’re up money is a good day. Yesterday qualifies for that rule. Liverpool came through beating TSG Hoffenheim 2-1 in their UEFA game. If you followed the bet, we bet for both a win for Liverpool and a tie, so even though technically we lost one bet, we ended up in the black. I love bets like that where you can win with two of three possible outcomes. It’s rare but I’ll take it.

Today we’ll play two games and a parlay – yeah, it’s the return of the parlay after a rough week a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, they only have two outcomes and we’re hoping they’re positive.

Game 2 is the Chicago White Sox at the Los Angeles Dodgers. The White Sox are one of the worst teams in baseball. Conversely, the Dodgers are the best team in baseball and are on a historic win pace. Starting for the White Sox is Carlos Rodon. Rodon is 1-4 with a 4.24 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. He’s faced the Dodgers once this season, going 3 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs and seven hits. That was just over a month ago, at home. Yikes.

For the Dodgers, Yu Darvish starts. I can give you his season numbers but let’s just worry about what he’s done since he’s been with the Dodgers. Winning is contagious and it seems to have brought out the old Yu Darvish. Since his Los Angeles arrival, he is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA. Those numbers show that Darvish has been difficult to hit. If those numbers show it, these numbers put an exclamation mark on it. He has 20 strikeouts in just 12 innings and players are hitting just .186 against him. He’s back and doing an excellent job while Clayton Kershaw is out.

Here are some trends that may show how the game will go:

  • White Sox are 15-37 in their last 52 road games
  • White Sox are 0-4 in their last four against the NL West
  • Dodgers are 17-4 in last 21 interleague games
  • Dodgers are 50-13 in last 66 games

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -330 (Bet $20 to win $6.66)

I would play today’s picks in a parlay.

  • Parlay 1 (Bet $10 to win $9.54)
    • Chicago Cubs -200
    • Los Angeles Dodgers -330

Fingers crossed – hoping for the best so we can get back in the black and keep moving forward.
