Day 1

Just landed in Vegas and we're officially underway.

For those of you who don't know, the first round of the US Open started this morning in New York. I got here too late to bet any of the matches but hopefully there will be good stuff tomorrow. Novak Djokovic plays tonight but there was no action available for him. Also coming this week, college football. Get hyped.

Anyways, here are the bets placed today - two parlays, both MLB:

  • Parlay 1 ($20 to win $81.25)
    • Washington Nationals (-200) vs. Philadelphia Phillies
    • Chicago Cubs (-240) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
    • Boston Red Sox (-170) vs. Tampa Bay Rays
    • Detroit Tigers (-200) vs. Chicago White Sox

Here's the reasoning behind those picks. First, 3 of 4 picks are home favorites. Heart home favorites. Only Washington isn't. Tanner Roark starts for Washington and has a 0.86 ERA against Philadelphia this season over 3 starts. Jake Arrieta starts for the Cubs and is 3-1 against Pittsburgh with a 2.67 ERA against them this season. His ERA is 1.98 for the month of August. Rick Porcello starts for Boston and is undefeated at home (12-0) and against Tampa Bay (3-0) this season. Lastly, James Shields starts for the White Sox. He's given up 14 earned runs against Detroit in 16 innings this season.

  • Parlay 2 ($20 to win $22.50)
    • Washington Nationals (-200) vs. Philadelphia Phillies
    • Chicago Cubs (-240) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Here's the reasoning for the second parlay. These are the two teams most likely to win. If only these two teams win, you'll still end up on money if one of the other two loses.
